Since the 'My Best Friend's Wedding' actress and singer Benji Madden got married in 2015, they have reportedly wanted to have a child together.
Congratulations are in order for new parents, Cameron Diaz, 47, and Benji Madden, 40. The My Best Friend's Wedding actress has welcomed a baby girl with her singer husband, whom she married in 2015. The private couple has named their baby Raddix, according to their social media post on January 4.
"Happy New Year from the Maddens!" Diaz and Madden began their announcement posted on Instagram. "We are so happy, blessed and grateful to begin this new decade by announcing the birth of our daughter, Raddix Madden. She has instantly captured our hearts and completed our family," they said in a joint statement. They further added that while they were overjoyed to share the news they want to protect their child's privacy. Even the couple has rarely been photographed together since they got married.
"So we won’t be posting pictures or sharing any more details, other than the fact that she is really really cute! Some would even say RAD. From our family to all of yours, we’re sending our love and best wishes for a Happy New Year and Happy New Decade," she wrote. She signed off with: "Sincerely, Cameron&Benj" with a red heart emoji. They opted to have the baby with a surrogate mother after trying for years to have a baby, and Us Weekly claimed a source said, "Cameron feels like this baby is truly a miracle."
The couple first sparked dating rumors in May 2014 and got engaged right before Christmas the same year. They married in January 2015 at their Beverly Hills home with a small gathering of their famous friends like Drew Barrymore, Madden’s brother and Good Charlotte bandmate Joel Madden and the latter’s wife Nicole Richie, according to People.
In a rare photo, Madden gushed about his wife on an Instagram post on her birthday in 2017. "Happy Birthday to my Beautiful Wife. I feel like I am the LUCKIEST guy ALIVE. I don't think anyone could ever know the Depth, Kindness, and Compassion that I get to experience everyday thanks to My One and Only- You got me til the end baby."
Meanwhile, Diaz did not hold back from showing love to her husband either. "He’s just my partner in life, in everything. I’ve never had anyone who supported me so much and gave me so much courage to be myself and to really explore myself. My husband has been able to show me what it’s like to […] be an equal. And I’ve learned so much from him. I look at him every day and he inspires me. I feel so lucky," she said during a Gwyneth Paltrow-moderated panel at the “In Goop Health” wellness summit in Culver City, California, says People.
With so much love between them, little Rad is the perfect addition to their small family. A source told People that becoming a mother right now couldn't have been better timed for Diaz. "Cameron is so much more settled, stable and happy. It was natural to want a baby," the insider says. However, the Charlie's Angel didn't always want to be a mom. In 2014, she told Esquire that she "was never drawn to being a mother."
"Not having a baby might really make things easier, but that doesn’t make it an easy decision... so much more work to have children ...lives besides your own that you are responsible for. I have it much easier than [moms]. Doesn’t mean life isn’t sometimes hard. I’m just what I am. I work on what I am. Right now, I think, things are good for me. I’ve done a lot. And I don’t care anymore," she had said.
This shift in her shows exactly how much Madden's love has changed her and given her faith that she would be able to take care of a little one, and she won't be alone on this journey. In fact, soon after they got married they have wanted to have a baby together. "Cameron really wanted to be a mom," an insider said of the Mask actress to People. "Cameron and Benji were hoping they would be blessed with a baby."
Here's wishing the new parents all the very best for the new chapter of their lives!
