After Three Divorces, Drew Barrymore Says She Will "Never Get Married Again" | "Cut It...or Be Elizabeth Taylor"

She's tried online dating too since her divorce in 2016 but hasn't had pleasant experiences with it so far.

Some people are lucky enough to find their soulmate early on in their life. Some others never stop trying till they find their one and only. There's no space for argument in that decision because as humans we need companionship, that's how we've worked since the beginning, be it our friends or family. But when it comes to lovers, the bond often ends up in a stronger and more mature bond, marriage.

But in this world, there are two types of people. First are those who find love and get married but if it doesn't work out, they try again. Then there are those who try it a few times and then figure out that marriage is not their cup of tea. Actress Drew Barrymore is the latter who's understood that marriage is nowhere in her plan after being married and divorced three times.

In a recent interview with People, she said, "I will never get married again! ... I will never, with a capital N-E-V-E-R, never get married. It’s like, I have two options. Cut it — this has not worked — or be Elizabeth Taylor."

The star added jokingly that to catch up with the number of Taylor's husbands, she has "too many more to go." The Santa Clarita Diet actor has been featured on the latest cover of the magazine.

Talking about how relationships really work, she continued, "I never want to be entwined with someone like that again ever. You break up, and you move on. You get divorced, and it’s just so different. I love that we are trying to hold on to an institution that [started] when the closest person to you for companionship was a three-day horse ride away and your life span was 30 years."

The 45-year-old actress is into the world of CBS daytime talk show with her very own The Drew Barrymore Show that will be aired from September 14. She shares her two daughters, 7-year-old Olive and 6-year-old Frankie with her ex-husband Will Koperman. The duo married each other in 2012 and got divorced in 2016.

Last year while talking to Marie Claire editor, Nicky Briger on the Finding Fearless, the Blended actress admitted that the 2016 divorce with Kopelman was “her worst nightmare.” She said, “I was really broken. Divorce is the death of a dream. I lost 40 pounds [18 kilograms] of weight.”

She revealed that it made her feel like "the biggest failure" but work turned out to be her savior. While talking about her reason for agreeing to play the zombie-real-estate-agent on Santa Clarita Diet, she said, “I had to go back to work. This project came along. Sometimes what you think is the worst timing ever is actually the best blessing. So be open.”

Barrymore was also married to comedian Tom Green from 2001 to 2002 and her first husband Jeremy Thomas from 1994 until 1995. As you can see, she's had her fair share of experiences of saying "I do." But that hasn't stopped the actress from finding love.

Explaining how she likes to dwell deeper into her emotions every time she remotely feels like she's in love, Barrymore said, "I am a hopeless romantic, and everybody on this planet needs love in some form. And we are constantly contending with relationships. Love and those relationships may look differently for people. But it's there at its core. So, I can't help but want to explore and examine that."

Back in 2019, Barrymore made it clear to everyone that after the divorce, even after not dating for four years, she was happy and content with herself. She posted a selfie on her Instagram page on Valentines Day with post-it notes that reminded her of how amazing she is and even after being a "romantic at heart" she's found her path to "deeper happiness" by herself, reported Metro.

She wrote, "This day is just about love period. And if you don’t have it with a romantic partner (I’m single and have not been able to successfully date for almost four years, so what do I know you ask) I believe with all my heart in the human heart."

Talking about good days and bad days and the constant test that life is, she wrote, "And days where you feel so alive your skin tingles and your smile just rip your face apart until it floats right up into heaven and you want [the] sky [to] write about how goddam happy you are."

Calling her kids and friends her "constant" source of love, she said, "I have fought my way to a deeper happiness on my own, and i love being independent! It just rules… so I’m not sitting around bummed out. I feel stupid grateful."

Now in 2020, the actress is ready and has already dived into the ocean of online dating. Talking about her experience, the Never Been Kissed actress said, "I've tried it. I went on a couple of dates. A lot of people totally ghosted me. And one time I was waiting to go on a date, and at the time we were supposed to meet he just wrote, 'Yeah, I can’t.' But I’d rather hang out with my friends."
