Mother's Day in the UK is celebrated in March while in the US it is celebrated on the second Sunday of May, and the American duchess honored her country too through her post while paying tribute to the late Princess Diana who would have loved to be around to see her grandchildren.
In the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Kenya, Japan, India, and many countries in Europe, the special occasion of Mother's Day falls on the second Sunday of May while in the UK it falls in March.
The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, who became a mother on the Monday (May 6) before the Mother's Day weekend celebrated the day and wished everyone across the world. She spent her Mother's Day with her mother Doria Ragland by her side. Ragland has been with her daughter since the middle of April, and the three generations were together on this beautiful day celebrating mothers.
The official post on the special day paid tribute to all mothers, past and present and to-bes. There was a special mention to those mothers who were lost forever as well, which could have been a mention of Princess Diana.
The post on the official Instagram account said, "Paying tribute to all mothers today - past, present, mothers-to-be, and those lost but forever remembered. We honor and celebrate each and every one of you. Today is Mother’s Day in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Kenya, Japan, and several countries across Europe. This is the first Mother’s Day for The Duchess of Sussex."
The post was concluded with lines from the poem Lands by Nayyirah Waheed:
my first country;
the first place i ever lived.
The photo also showed baby Archie's tiny feet in Meghan's hands. In the background, we can see forget-me-not flowers, which were favorites of the late Princess Diana. Meghan has paid tribute to her earlier on her wedding day. Her bridal bouquet, which had been picked by Prince Harry, had also included the flowers, according to CNN.
But this isn't the only time she was honoring her late mother-in-law who was a beloved people's princess. Meghan has worn jewelry belonging to Diana a few times, like the butterfly earrings that she was spotted in a day after announcing her pregnancy, according to Harper's Bazaar.
And Diana's bracelet that looked just as elegant on Meghan's wrist.
It is also Diana's bracelet that Meghan is wearing. The bracelet and earrings belonging to Diana definitely is a touching tribute to the late Princess Diana on such a special time for the royal couple. #RoyalTourAustralia pic.twitter.com/XBfYj2EdXT— Meghans Mirror (@MeghansMirror) October 15, 2018
