The nursery for baby Archie is reportedly made in gender-neutral monochromatic tones with vegan paint, and the parents might raise him on a vegan diet, according to reports.
Meghan Markle has been the poster child for rebelling against royal traditions ever since she married the British prince Henry Charles Albert David also known as Prince Harry. She has raised many eyebrows over her lifestyle choices, including being a vegan, according to sources.
Prince Harry and she had moved out of the palace to live at the Frogmore Cottage, where they are believed to have built a floating yoga studio for her and the baby. She is an ardent follower of yoga. In April, before the birth of Archie, Meghan apparently expressed that she wanted to raise her child on a vegan diet and Prince Harry was onboard with the idea until the queen put her foot down and refused to allow that, according to Woman's Day. The queen was nothing short of outraged at the notion of a vegan royal baby.
"The Queen won't have it," a source tells Woman's Day. "It's created tense discussions between Meghan and Harry, who doesn't want to upset his grandmother. He's hoping Meghan will settle once the baby comes and he's putting this latest polarising idea down to heightened emotions while being pregnant."
The source continued, "Meghan keeps pushing the boundaries with the royals and it's not being well received, least of all by HM. Meghan seems to have little regard for royal traditions but bringing the baby up as a vegan simply won't be tolerated by the monarch."
Her approach to building the nursery had already made many heads turn. At the Frogmore Cottage, they have reportedly created a gender-free "vegan" nursery. The nursery is painted in a monochromatic palette, in whites and greys. The nursery has also been painted with vegan paint, according to Sun UK.
She apparently once joked that she's a "hippie chick," according to Sun UK. Meghan is believed to enjoy vinyasa yoga and hot yoga. She used to regularly share photos of herself on her social media. Prince Harry is also a follower of the Eastern traditions. He told Buddhist monk Kelsang Sonam earlier this year that he practices meditation “every day.”
OK UK reports that Meghan too is a vegan, who eats a plant-based diet during the week and has also converted Harry to her ideas. He has reportedly cut down on meat and eats more fruit and vegetables since meeting his wife.
For the royal family, especially Queen Elizabeth, going meat-free is a difficult choice since hunting is one tradition deeply entrenched in their family. The 92-year-old queen is believed to love hunting for sport. However, Prince Harry has stopped hunting to make Meghan happy, according to PlantBased News. The claims that she is a vegan or is raising the baby vegan are all unconfirmed. Meghan is most likely a flexitarian. She revealed in 1026 that she is only a part-time plant-based dieter.
"When I'm filming, I'm conscious of what I eat. I try to eat vegan during the week and then have a little bit more flexibility with what I dig into on the weekends. But at the same time, it’s all about balance," she was reported to be saying.
She is, however, against animal cruelty. She doesn't wear fur and chooses vegan fashion choices. Last year, she wore a pair of animal-free Adidas Stan Smith trainers. She has also worn vegan leather. The former actress' wardrobe for Suits used to include a cropped pant in vegan leather.
