Pamela Anderson and Husband Jon Peters Called It Quits After 12 Days of Marriage | He Helped Pay off Her $200,000 Debt

The couple had known each other for 35 years and Jon Peters had first proposed to her when she was only 19.

Imagine being in love with one person for decades and then hearing a confession of love from them too. The joy would be inexplicable if you find out that the person who was in your heart for so long feels the same way. Most likely, you'd leave everything at the drop of a hat to be with that person. But fate doesn't always lead to happiness at the end of that rainbow. When two people come together in marriage, there are always chances of misunderstandings.

When Pamela Anderson, 52, and Hollywood producer Jon Peters, 74, decided to get married after knowing each other for more than three decades, they thought it would last forever. Both of them had been married four times each and were ready to be each other's forever person.

As per The Hollywood Reporter, Peters had said, "Pamela has never seen her full potential as an artist. She has yet to shine in a real way. There is much more to her than meets the eye, or I wouldn't love her so much. There are beautiful girls everywhere. I could have my pick, but — for 35 years — I've only wanted Pamela. She makes me wild — in a good way. She inspires me. I protect her and treat her the way she deserves to be treated."

They had passion between them but after being married for only 12 days, they called it quits. They got married on January 20, 2020, and the relationship was over by February 1. They didn't even make it to Valentine's Day.

Anderson told The Hollywood Reporter in a statement, "I have been moved by the warm reception to Jon and my union. We would be very grateful for your support as we take some time apart to re-evaluate what we want from life and from one another. Life is a journey and love is a process. With that universal truth in mind, we have mutually decided to put off the formalization of our marriage certificate and put our faith in the process. Thank you for respecting our privacy."

The decision to part was abrupt and the Baywatch star took a flight to her native Canada only a few days after posting a loving shot of herself and Peters on her Instagram Stories.

They first met in the mid-80s, with Jon previously recounting, "I walked in and saw this little angel sitting at the bar. It was Pammy. She was like 19. I knew she would be a big star." He had then proposed to her but she said no, as per the SUN UK. However, he told her back then, "In 30 years, our age difference won’t mean so much."

After their break up, since they had never formalized the wedding, Peters said that Anderson had been "broke" when he married her. "These past 9 days have been a beautiful amazing love fest," Peters texted the actress. But "this whole marriage thing with lawyers, debt, and Jazmin (sic) has scared me. It made me realize that at 74 I need a simple quiet life and not an international love affair." Jazmin is an online lifestyle magazine in which Anderson has stakes, as per Mercury News.

Peters who famously dated Barbra Streisand and called her the love of his life, has been living a reclusive life for the past decade. However, the A Star is Born producer continues to stay rich. He claimed that Anderson asked him to marry her and he left his then-fiance to comply.

"Needless to say that when she texted me that she wanted to get married, it was kind of a dream come true even though I was engaged to someone else and the lady was moving in,” Peters said in an email to Page Six. "I dropped everything for Pam," Peters told Page Six. “She had almost $200,000 in bills and no way to pay it so I paid it and this is the thanks I get. There’s no fool like an old fool.”

Anderson's source had previously said that she was the one who realized that the marriage was "a mistake" as he was "too controlling." The movie mogul refuted those claims and said, "Everything they told you was a lie. If she meant controlling, I’ve paid … (her) bills since she was broke. I bought her a completely new wardrobe."

He claims that he ended the marriage by telling her, "I can love you by giving you a new career. I do love you, but I don’t know how people get together when there’s so much energy around the couple."
