Kate Middleton Reveals That Princess Charlotte and Princess Diana Share This Hobby | Grandma Diana Would Be Delighted!

Princess Charlotte also shares her love for horses with her great-grandmother, the Queen, and is athletic like her mother Kate.

Prince William and Kate Middleton's second child, Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana of Cambridge, recently turned five. The family celebrated the day in lockdown together. Over the last five years, she has been photographed multiple times; with each photograph, her charm and sweet spirit have gained more fans.

The princess has often been compared to her grandmother, the late Princess Diana, for her rebellious nature. She isn't afraid to go after what she wants, as seen in a rather adorable incident in December 2019. During her first-ever Christmas walk, a young boy gifted her a bouquet. And because she loved it so much, the little princess refused to let go of the bunch of white roses that her 6-year-old fan had given her. It isn't just her sweet antics with the public that reminds us Lady Di, who was affectionately called the People's Princess.

Kate revealed yet another detail that reveals how much of Diana she has in her genes. She explained that Charlotte has a knack for sports and is athletic. Lady Diana is the first British royal to be spotted on many occasions on her way to the gym creating a fashion spur in her stylish gym outfits.

"Charlotte is really into gymnastics, she's doing cartwheels, handstands, everything. It's so good for their basic skills of balance and coordination," HELLO! quoted her. She is also an equestrian, a hobby she shares with her great-grandmother, the Queen. The little princess apparently started riding when she was only 17 months old! In 2016,  Kate met Paralympic gold medallist Natasha Baker, who revealed how Kate was open to encourage this skill in her daughter. Natasha recalled, "She emphasized that Charlotte has this passion for horses and although she doesn't echo it, she'll do her best to champion and encourage it."

But, that's not all the things she's good at. There is a hobby she adores which her grandmother, Princess Diana, would have appreciated.

In 2017, when Kate visited Diana’s memorial garden at Kensington Palace with Prince William and Prince Harry, she told English National Ballet director Tamara Rojo that her daughter has a deep interest in dancing, much like Lady Diana, according to Express UK. Diana fans know how passionate she was about dancing and how disappointed she was when she found out as a teenager that she was "too tall" for ballet. She continued to remain a patron of the English National Ballet until her death.

Prince William recalled his mom's love for movement and dance as an art form, "She loved dancing, she was a fantastic dancer. We've been going through her music collection recently and there's some quite eclectic stuff in there. She was elated by the skill."

Princess Charlotte reportedly takes weekly ballet lessons at a dance school in south London, following her grandmother's footsteps. Kate took her young daughter to watch The Nutcracker at the Royal Opera House in central London, reports HELLO!

It's thrilling to know that the little princess takes after her grandma in so many ways. Princess Diana gave her fans moments that will remain etched in our memories forever. Remember the time she waltzed with actor John Travolta during the White House dinner in 1985? The ace dancer led the graceful princess around the floor as she captivated everyone present there and millions who later saw the clip as she glided around in her gorgeous Victor Edelstein gown.

Travolta told Yahoo Entertainment, "I was awestruck with her... She led the way, and I thought, 'Well, that’s not going to happen! I’ve got to go back to my school days of learning ballroom dancing and show that I can lead her.'"

The princess had also surprised her husband and the royal family once with a ballet performance. The event had taken place in December 1985 at a private Christmas gala for the supporters of the Royal Ballet at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden. She had secretly worked with top Royal Ballet star Wayne Sleep to choreograph a three-minute surprise performance for the song Uptown Girl by Billy Joel. It was meant as a gift for Prince Charles who although wasn't impressed, according to Express UK.

She had begun ballet classes rather young and would also often visit rehearsals of the London ballet companies later. While she traveled the globe as an ardent change-maker and philanthropist, she took delight in dance and other art forms. Since she never realized her own dream to become a dancer, she was always eager to encourage artists and dancers to pursue their passion. We hope Charlotte gets to hone all her talents and grow into a strong, kindhearted woman much like the Queen of Hearts, Lady Diana.
