Woman Adopts 27 Disabled Dogs | One Look at Their Happy Faces Reveals How Kindness Can Transform Lives

This 48-year-old mother spends more than 12 hours a day caring for her pooches who come from all over the world.

There are some people whose love for animals knows no bounds. Especially when it comes to dogs, the effort they would make to save these creatures that can't speak for themselves but will shower you with love is boundless. A British woman, Clare-Louise Nixon, is one such person. She takes in disabled dogs from all over the world to give them a better life.

The 48-year-old lives in a four-bedroom home with her parents, her husband Gary, and their daughter Rhia-Louise, where she lets the dogs roam freely, according to Milton Keynes. Many of the dogs adopted by Nixon were brought to her with severe disabilities but were able to walk again thanks to her efforts, because of which she has been called a miracle worker.

The 48-year-old mother gives her dogs names of famous celebrities like Sir Elton John, David Bowie, Julian Clary, and Lady Diana. Her famously named pooches get the most amount of TLC from her.

"The dogs arrive with the most horrible past we give them love and wonderful future. They come from all over the world but with me, they are home forever," she told Milton Keynes. And look at those happy faces now!

Talking about the living conditions, she said, "The dogs have a free run of the house. They sit where they want and they sleep wherever they happen to fall asleep – often on our beds," adding, that "although 27 dogs sound a lot, they are really quite well behaved."

The condition the dogs arrive in are so difficult that even vets don't have hope for them, but Nixon and her family love the creatures to bits. "The vet would say: 'Claire, you won't get them walking again'. But now they say nothing is impossible! They say we work miracles with them," she said. And family gatherings, Christmases, and other occasions are a lot more fun for this special family.

Nixon runs an organization called From Wheels to Paws and raises funds for her dogs through it. She makes sure that they walk again through intense physio sessions and walks on wheels, according to Daily Mail. When she gets the dogs, she intends to find them forever homes but sometimes their needs are too special with some having to wear nappies as they are incontinent.

"I think all they need is love, kindness, and patience. When they walk into my house they see other dogs like them so they don't feel any different that's why I think they do so well here. If you give them a reason to walk again then they will," said the dog-mommy.

Among the dogs she has are Freddie Mercury, a cross-breed who was hit over the head with a shovel in Romania, which paralyzed him from the neck down; Hop Along Cassidy, from Bosnia, where his leg was blown off after he stood on a landmine; David Bowie, from Romania; Barney Rubble from Turkey; and three German shepherds who are all disabled including Lady Diana from Tunisia and paralyzed Mateo from Spain. They are all part of her permanent brood.

Caring for the massive number of dogs takes close to 18 hours and multiple pounds of food. She spends from 6 am to midnight caring for them, which includes feeding them more than 33 pounds of biscuits and a complete crate of dog food per day. Even if it seems like a Herculean task, the dog-lover finds it all worth it. She gets support from her local community all the time such as discounts from vets and pet food stores.

"It is tremendous hard work but I can't tell you how rewarding it is. The love these dogs give back is amazing. I would not be without any single one of them," said she.
